I've just ordered one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-1m-RJ45-C ... 2749.l2649

to give me two ports. In one port I intend to plug the original P.Express handset into and the other wi-fi box to give me two points of access, the handset and my mobile.

If that works, I can then dedicate an old Android phone for visitors and maybe an old Ipad too.

Hi
I added a coiled (Phone style) cable to my PA2 (The PE has the same connections) The phone cable only had four wires and I crimped a pair of RJ45 plugs onto each end. I opted for a coiled cable as I kept tripping over a long throttle cable! :o
If you look at the photo below you will see only four connections of the 8 are used. If the cable had 8 wires then pins/cable cores 5 to 8 just repeat pins/cores 1 to 4.

Brian - Thanks I have got it now....... I screwed up first time around and ordered a cable with 1-2-7-8 terminated, when I meant to choose 1-2-3-4.......That’s what I get for multi-tasking but new cable now on order.

Thanks Richard

New and correct curly cord cable ( Pins 1 thru 4 wired point to point) recd this morning and all working fine....... have to say the service from Bristol Communications and Electrical Ltd is absolutely first class, with both cables arriving the day after ordering on-line.

Thanks to all for assistance - Richard

I have now got my 3 metre cord in yellow from Toolstation as recommended by Brian a day or two ago.
I promise to try not to trip over it as per your warning.

Following up on previous posts I have been quite pleased with RJ45 to RJ45 Curly Cord that I sourced for use with my Prodigy Advance controller, but have found it to be too short to stretch to the far end of the layout with the hand-held, and on occasions I have even pulled the main controller with it. I went back to the source (Bristol Communications) to look for a longer length version, but 5m ( maximum extension) is the longest they do, however I recalled seeing a back to back adaptor many years ago and thus struck on the idea of joining two cables together.

I was delighted to find a really robust sealed external cord coupler and ordered this and an additional curly cord, both of which arrived this morning...…..The adaptor is really well made and has a neat split grommet which allows an already terminated cable to be used and which gives a great strain relief when fully tightened...…...the pictures below probably explain better than I can with words.

The adaptor was £8.09 and the curly cords are £3.79 each, + VAT and £ 3 shipping...…….this is the 3rd order I have placed with this company and I have been very pleased with their service on each occassion...…..Very happy with this solution and relaxed that if I trod on the coupler there is absolutely no chance of damaging it or the connections inside.

One point of note if anybody is interested...….pls be sure to order the curly cord with 1234 straight thru configuration as they do several variants, but this is the only one that works with the Prodigy controller / handheld.

Hope this helpful - cheers Richard

Ps -pls excuse the dog hairs on the railway room rug - I will get the Dyson out tomorrow - LOL
