Linka
Linka
I used to mess around with Linka as a kid. Basically it was plaster of Paris with some silicone moulds for various building parts (walls, windows, roofs etc) plus mixing equipment and some plans. Most of the building plans used to be railway oriented. I think it was HO scale. Does anyone use it anymore? Is there a modern equivalent? Does anyone use plaster of paris for buildings and accessories?

Re: Linka
It is still available.

I have heard availability can be problem, evidenced by the number of sold out moulds on the site above but there is also a healthy market of both secondhand and new moulds on eBay.

Re: Linka
Yes I found that after my post. Seems someone is still selling the moulds without all the other paraphernalia. Makes sense as the plaster and mixing kit is commonly available for other uses. Shame it's HO. Is plaster a practical modelling medium? I seem to remember it was incredibly fragile and brittle when I was using it.

Re: Linka
Building wise the difference between OO and HO isn’t very much. All buildings are different, the houses in our road are all two story but different dimension. Surely the whole point of Linka is that you can adapt it.

The US company who bought out the Linka Systems is here:
http://www.linkaworld.com/index.html
Do not bother with the links to UK stockists, two no longer work and the third does not seem to do Linka according to their website. The US site does say it supplies world wide with only $6 for postage and free if order comes to over $100. There of course will be custom charges on top.
