Sorry if this question has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it!
I have several of the latest version of the Hornby HSTs fitted with TTS chip pairs.
How do I set up on my NCE controller to run the powered class 43 from one set with the unpowered class 43 from another. These are set up as different code numbers, but only one will be responding to power commands, the other just to sound and light commands.
Do I set them up as a consist?

IMO simpler would be to give both decoders the same address number, if they are already working as a pair with correct lighting front and rear.
After making both the same address number, if they are not a pair and the rear car has the wrong lighting for direction of travel then, reverse the tailing ends decoders normal direction of travel via CV29 by adding 1 to whatever is its current value. e.g. read CV29 value and say its 6 so make it 7. This will allow lights to become correct on the trailing end.

I believe the dummy car is already programmed to act in 'reverse' so straight out of the box they work correctly. I found that the dummy didn't like to be programmed so had to swap the decoder into the driven unit. The big disadvantage of having them paired is that all sounds play and occasionally not perfectly in sync. so the horn goes at both ends, the door slams at both ends etc.
In the manual it does say if you want to use it in a more complex way then set them with different addresses and run as a consist this means that the sound from both ends isn't tied together as only the speed and direction commands are paired. so individual functions and sounds have to be controlled for each end. although I haven't tried it.
Is it something you want to be able to swap around frequently (after a trip to the depot) or a way of giving a driven HST without sound the Dummy with sound? If so you can either set it to an independent address and add it as a consist to which ever driven unit but easier just set it to the same address as its new driven.
