So it's seems I've little choice but to try another controller and or decoders. I'll still pay the £15 for the update, I think, then it is more saleable.NOTE: This decoder does NOT work with the Hornby Select controller and other Basic, non-NMRA compliant controllers, such as Railmaster / eLink, cannot utilise all the CV's / functions available
Converting 0-4-0 and others

It seems the seller has now changed his listing to include this important line:
Re: Converting 0-4-0 and others
Rubbish...
Old problem of defining compliance versus warranted to NMRA standards. Many manufacturers don’t bother with NMRA testing on cost grounds. Doesn’t mean to say their kit is junk.
Select is NMRA compliant when loaded with more than one loco on track. There was ringing during initial warranty testing in the unloaded condition many years ago at initial firmware version.
ELink and RM supports all 29 functions. Older versions were function range limited - not so now. Operating software doesn’t feature in NMRA warranty.
These people making public announcements need to check their facts.
Any decoder that claims not to work with compliant kit is not worth wasting money on.

Re: Converting 0-4-0 and others
LaisDCC decoders have a dubious reputation - they are cheap for a reason.
"Not very stable, but incredibly versatile."
