With the loco sat on the rolling road, switch off sound function 8 then press function 7 and you will hear the twin generator fans working.

Terrible weather here, so will take advantage and sort a few more NQPs out on the bench.

First one is a Class 68 with sound and running issues, simple enough fix when you find the problem.
Image Very poorly fitted decoder, they trapped a wire underneath it, now sorted.

Finding the issue can be difficult. It is half the problem, especially when things are so much smaller then they used to be. Often it is something simple. Why I like to keep things simple. Easier to sort when they act up.
Well done for finding the fault.

Another little tip, when ever i work on a factory fitted sound Cl 68 i re-position the PCB, the first pic shows how Dapol fit the decoder poorly at a angle, the 2nd pic shows the PCB moved about 2mm and then the decoder fits correctly.

That is really bad workmanship on behalf of manufacturer. I guess the original design used a smaller decoder but nobody thought of repositioning the pcb when a larger one was required. And it passed QC? - terrible.

Absolutely Terry, the sound fitting is done in this country, to let a loco out like that is shameful. Here is the 2nd one today im sorting.
