Re: New Layout - bridge heights?

Theres always one, who has to ignore advice which has been a standard in modelling for years. I hope not to many follow his gung ho ideas, and i quote his own words " I tend to make it up as I go along but so far its all worked out" As opposed to the person who makes disparaging remarks a...

Re: New Layout - bridge heights?

No apology needed and I'm sorry if my reply across as a rebuke. I just feel that people are continually being dissuaded from adding inclines to their layout and with modern rolling stock I don't think it's necessary. Mine are not perfect and they work fine. I had a problem at the bottom once with an...

Re: New Layout - bridge heights?

Yes, I did look - very carefully. https://i.postimg.cc/ct6h5SsR/C0318-BE7-79-F4-45-E5-BDFB-C7-B3-A001-ECC9.jpg I think you're worrying about nothing there, it looks like more than a coach length so should be fine. This is what I've found when discussing inclines, some modellers seem to think they a...

Re: New Layout - bridge heights?

Re: New Layout - bridge heights?

Also curves add implicit resistance so a spiral is harder to climb up than a straight section of track rising at the same rate. There's also an effect (I can't remember the name) that means there is an increased risk of rolling stock being dragged off the inside of a curve. I do like the layout thou...

Re: Installing points

As others have posted we could do with seeing more track. Not needing isolators or any clever wiring is the main (probably only) advantage of insulated frogs. All my turnouts are insulfrog (Peco N-gauge Setrack) and I didn't do anything special to them. Just connected them to the track on either sid...

Re: Removing centre spring - Peco N scale

They work for me which is good. After I've completed the second of my staging yards I need to take a look at Wilf's Junction which is dedicated to my late Dad. That will require use of distant rodding which will be interesting.

But so far it's going very well. Plug and play :)

Re: Removing centre spring - Peco N scale

Now the springs are removed are the points throwing correctly or not? Absolutely, yes. The motor is basiclly a surface mount slow motion motor and it is normal to remove the overcentre spring, I don't have any problem with the recommendation to remove centre springs. At the most I'm mildly curious ...

Re: Removing centre spring - Peco N scale

I doubt the spring on Setrack points is stronger as it would cause problems with their own motors. What power supply have you used? Do the point motors throw okay not attched to a point? The motors are powered via controllers powered from the track bus. They have a CDU so I assume they feed whateve...
