Re: now the lights been switched on

I know it'll be more money but if we buy UK it will be better for us. How many loco's do you buy a year . Ten or more. I, for one, am quite happy for non-essential items to be made wherever to keep the costs within reasonable reach of the wider population, rather than fuel an ideological experiment...

Re: WEST ORTON

You just have spare parts arriving with every post  It will be nice to get the Spitfire up and running for the summer. Pleased to hear that Hornby found the parts you needed for the 4P. I got very lucky with that part - they robbed it from a returned scrap loco. These parts simply don't exist.

Re: WEST ORTON

Nice.. Can one still get new driveshafts for them? Yes, at a price that makes model railways appear cheap. :o The special tool for pulling the hub was £140+ and that's before you buy any replacement parts. Strange knocking noise from the rear axle so I'm starting with new bearings on the hub and di...

Deconstructed driveshaft and hub for a Triumph Spitfire. Just waiting for a couple more spare parts to arrive and I can start reassembly.

In other news, Hornby have located the last known set of transfer gears for the 4P and they will soon be mine.

Re: WEST ORTON

I picked up this one at Ally Pally last month, and yes it has taken me that long to get it running. https://i.postimg.cc/23LzZS85/20250407-110650.jpg It's a Stanier 4P but from the first Hornby release of 2008(ish). Although it is new old stock, it inevitably had a split transfer gear, and spares fo...

Re: Raven A2 Pacific Locomotive In OO Gauge

Unlikely to find anyone able to supply that info off the top of their head.
I did have a quick read of the Wikipedia entry for the Raven A2.
As WTD says a kit is the best option unless you are into some serious scratch building.

Sorry but I suffer from PD.
Plausible deniability.
