Re: Sound re-mapping problem
Thanks for all the replies guys. After having tried a number of suggestions put forward, and having failed to achieve what I was hoping for, I have come to the conclusion that when running this particular locomotive I am just going to have to remember that the guard's whistle is on a different funct...

Re: Digital or analogue
After a very long break from railway modelling, I came back to it about 3 years ago and had to make the same decision. I had a stable of some 30 locos, the vast majority of which were Bachmann split chassis, which are difficult to convert to DCC. My original intention was to stick with DC as it was ...

Re: Layout design best way to get from head to design
I have tried both Anyrail and SCARM and, of the two, found SCARM much easier to use. There's also some very good tutorial videos on YT for SCARM.

Re: Sound re-mapping problem
Itch45, that's exactly what I did; read the sound file cvs expecting to just be able to swap them around, which is what I have done on one or two other decoders, but all the relevant CVs on this particular decoder came back with a value of 0, which is why I posted the question.

Re: Sound re-mapping problem
Thanks Ian. As you say, a very full and complex document. If the answer is in there, it's not immediately obvious. There is a section that mentions function mapping with a list of CVs that differ from the CVs I had down as being for sound allocation. It also mentions CV 300 procedures, though I am n...

Sound re-mapping problem
All my locos are fitted with Zimo sound decoders that I have fitted myself, and as a result all the function keys are pretty standard, which makes it easier to remember which one does what. I have just acquired my first loco that is sound fitted from the factory, and most functions are OK, but there...

Re: Is this a Unifrog
That's a standard electrofrog. As others have stated, Unifrog points do not have hinged blades.

Re: Lights in an old Bachmann Class 42 Warship
That's interesting to note Mike. Mine is sound fitted, but I didn't go the extra step with the fans and grill.

Re: Locomotion Models
Frankly, if their 'interaction' is that bad when someone is trying to buy something from them, how good is it going to be if you have a problem with an item purchased from them?
If I had had the same experience as the OP, I'd have been looking elsewhere to take my custom.

Re: In The Greenwood and laser cut buildings pros and cons
I have seen a number of laser cut kits at various model shows, but haven't tried any yet. What puts me off is the obvious joints on most corners where the parts dovetail together. Unfortunately I don't have enough confidence in my artistic skills that I would be able to do a decent job of hiding the...
