I have just fitted a HM7000 sound decoder to an old re-built Merchant Navy Class, surprisingly it all went into the loco boiler, including the speaker. It sounds great.

I fitted this Bachmann Class 5 MT with the Hornby HM7000 sound decoder, speaker and stay-alive. Surprisingly it all went together a lot easier than I had expected. The retaining walls are only Metcalfe card kits, to which, sometime ago, I added small LED lights into the top of each arch. It caused a few amusing comments at the time.

Great pictures Steve - do you drain down (empty) the water after steaming? I left the Black 5 overnight with water in the tank, and got clouds of steam next morning when I turned it on.

Re: Peco Crossings - reliable or troublesome ?
Hi TT - Late to the party as usual
I do not use cross-overs, but do have two Peco Code 75 Double-slips (very similar) and they have been fine and are now over ten years old. The odd "older" loco may give a slight wobble when crossing, but no derailments etc.

The switches are not too bulky, and can be placed in any position, as only the button protrudes through the panel, they have a Hornby decoder type plug to which the lead is attached.
