Those fishplates look excellent!

I've used a 'home made' version of those alignment tools you've pictured. They help align the rails on a tight curve between the layout and my removable shadow station/fiddle yard.

My lift out section is held in position with large metal pins pushed into holes from above. Almost invisible when pushed fully home.

They do crop up on ebay, as has been said you just have to keep looking. A while back Kernows were selling a wide variety of BR/SR Bulleid brakes for £17.50. Picked up a couple to make up "Sets".

Your probably aware of the following:

R4886, R4888 and R4888A = Set 968
R4886A, R4888B and R4888C ...

They still got them for around £40 a coach, so not terrible considering.

I did buy 2 sets of the BR brakes + an odd one as I thought they would make a good parts donors if I didn't use them all.
I have one SR composite coach here and at another SR composite on the way, which I may renumber/decal ...

Very carefully just with a cocktail stick. They came off very easily on the Bachmann coaches. Hornby ones might be different.

Added in a bit of railway fencing, it looks satisfactory, I think. This is a unique feature of British railroading. In the United States, cattle were rarely fenced in, resulting in hamburger.
